How You Can Help

Medicines

One of the key ways you can help is by kindly donating medicines that are used in the ongoing care and treatment of our elephants. If you would like to donate medicines to our elephants please email us at elephantrescueparkdonate@gmail.com

– Glucosamine

Glucosamine is vital for building cartilage, a flexible, tough connective tissue found in several parts of the body. This firm, rubber tissue functions as padding at the ends of long bones where they meet the joints. Glucosamine has been found to have positive effects on elephants in the same way as humans.  The key difference is whilst a human may only take 1 or 2 tablets a day, due to their size, an elephant will need 20 tablets a day! We use both Glucosamine (1500 mg)/Chondroitin (1200 mg), and Glucosamine HCI (1500 mg) with MSM (1500 mg),in treating our elephants.

– Vitamin C

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues. It is involved in many body functions, including formation of collagen, absorption of iron, the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bones and teeth. Vitamin C is particularly important for our younger elephants who are more susceptible to the Elephant endotheliotropic herpesviruses (EEHV) or Elephantid betaherpesvirus 1 (ElHV-1) a type of herpesvirus, which can cause a highly fatal hemorrhagic disease when transmitted to young Asian elephants.
